Jourdanton FFA attends convention in Corpus
This year on the week of July 9-13, twenty-four Jourdanton FFA chapter members traveled to Corpus Christi along with over 12,000 other members from all across the state to attend the 89th annual Texas FFA State Convention.
During the week, students got the opportunity to listen to keynote speakers Keni Thomas, Sid Miller and other industry leaders. Our very own Serah Kate Blair competed at the state level of the Senior Public Speaking Contest in the Animal Science division and placed 6th. Brooke Vyvlecka and five other members of the Area X officer team ran the delegate floor, and organized an area caucus meeting, in which members selected an individual to represent Area X on the state officer team.
We had nine students receive their Texas Lone Star Degree, these students include: Brooke Vyvlecka, Molly Netardus, Haley Wilkins, Kaelyn DeSpain, Aspen Cox, Savannah Bronstad, Laney Korus, Natalie Miranda, and Taylor Rankin. Jourdanton graduates Jared Meyer, Ryan House, and Tyler Pearson all received a combined total of 33,000 dollars in scholarships at the state level. Sterling Bronstad was able to represent our chapter in competing in the Texas FFA Rodeo.
Our chapter also received the Golden Horizon award for our work throughout the year. Jourdanton FFA students also had the chance to be a part of the state officer election process by participating in workshops put on by state officer candidates.
Students also brought in school supplies in backpacks as a part of the statewide community service Backpack initiative.
Overall it was an extremely rewarding trip rounding out a year of success.
